Alex Vissia (Viss) is proof that great storytelling can’t be contained by a single medium. Known to audiences worldwide as VISSIA, the Alberta-born singer and songwriter has built a reputation as a fearless pop artist, commanding stages from Cologne’s c/o Pop to the UK’s Great Escape Festival. But music is only one piece of the story. Behind the songs, Viss has grown into a multidisciplinary creative force whose work in design, film, and marketing reveals the same instinct for narrative and connection that drives her songwriting.
As Head of Design and Head of Advertising & Marketing at Hurry Hard Music—home to release guru and Neon Moon Records—Viss helps artists shape the look, language, and strategy that carry their stories into the world. Stepping into a new COO role, she is helping to architect the company itself with the same vision she brings to an album rollout or brand identity: a clear arc, a human voice, and a reason for people to care.
Her storytelling lens has guided projects like the 2023 Telus STORYHIVE documentary Dirt City Songbook, spotlighting emerging Edmonton artists, and Live, With Pleasure (2024), a concert documentary film she wrote, edited, and produced. Filmed during her sold-out cross-Canada tour supporting Canadian indie-rock duo USS, the project captures the live electricity of her album With Pleasure while pulling back the curtain on the realities of life on the road. Her creative fingerprints extend from album covers and logos to award-nominated music videos and theatre productions, including a children’s musical adaptation of Rapunzel that reached more than 60,000 Alberta students in 2024/2025.
Whether building artist campaigns, composing original scores, or designing a social ad strategy, Viss works from the same principle: stories are how people connect. And in every role she takes on—artist, designer, executive—her mission is to help those stories land with truth, impact, and staying power.
